Bob Dacko LTJG(SS) 1972 - 1974

Then Now

Work :
Left Snook in September 1974 and went to work for Texas Utilities (TXU) at the Comanche Peak nuclear power station in Glen Rose, Texas.  Have been with them ever since, primarily in their regulatory affairs department.

Wife Ann (celebrated 31st anniversary in 1999)

Daughter Kathryn, who was commissioned as an Ensign in June, 1999 after graduating from Northwestern University NROTC program.  She is assigned to the USS Chancellorsville (CG-62) out of Yokosuka, Japan (after completion of SWOS in March 2000)

Son Michael is currently in his second year at the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY (will be commisioned as an ensign in the US Navy Reserve upon graduation.)

Interesting events:
July of 1999 Ann and I took a vacation to Perth, Australia.  I spent 12 years of my childhood in Perth (1948-1960) but had not been back since I left. Amazingly I was able to contact and meet  9 of  my childhood friends and for most part could still recognize them. I was surprised to learn (from this website) that the Snook stopped in Perth in 1976.  I guess I left the Snook a couple of years too early.   While we were in Perth the USS Chancellorsville (my daughters future ship) stopped for a visit and we had a chance to tour and meet my daughter's future shipmates.

Hobbies and interests:
Have played on a local mens recreational soccer team for the last 20 years but recently sustained a knee injury that is probably arthritic and may end my soccer career. Play internet pinochle and bridge on Yahoo Games (under the name bdacko1). Sing in church and community choirs.
