Fred B. Kirk Jr.
CONCORD, NC -- Mr. Kirk died suddenly at his home on April 24, 2011.
On Saturday, April 30 at 1 p.m., a celebration of Fred's life will be held at the Wilkinson Funeral Home, 100 Branchview Dr. NE, Concord, NC 28025. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 3 p.m.

Fred was born December 4, 1959 in Albemarle, NC, son of the late Foy and Fred Kirk, Sr. Fred was employed with Duke Energy at the McGuire nuclear plant where he had worked since 1984. He had previously served in the U.S. Navy on the nuclear submarine, the USS Snook.

Fred was a motorcycle enthusiast and also enjoyed scuba diving, gardening, and all that life had to offer. But mostly he was a devoted husband and loving father who imparted strength of character, thoughtful judgment, compassion and generosity to his family. Fred will be remembered as a good neighbor, dedicated work colleague and steadfast friend.

Fred is survived by his wife, Robyn and their children Jon and Alex. Also surviving is his sister Kim and her husband Rick of Weddington, NC and their children, Brandon and Brittany. Sisters-in-law, spouses and their children include Sybil Huskey and Michael Lavine of Rock Hill, SC and Lynne, Lee, Marta and Michael Wetzell of Niceville, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory and honor of Fred Kirk Jr. can be made to the Cabarrus County Chapter of the American Red Cross, 167 Union Street South, Concord, NC 28025.
